Frequently asked questions
Does Gentle Tally need an account?
No. Your household is created on-device. There is no sign-up, family profile, or central account database.
What happens with three caregivers?
Each approved device keeps its own signed ledger. A Nearby Sync connection exchanges full ledgers and merges entries without duplicates. Start a new session to pass received history to another caregiver; there is no central server.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Awarding points and viewing history are local-first. To exchange new entries, open Household and start Nearby Sync while another caregiver is nearby.
Can an old entry be erased?
No. The ledger is append-only. A correction becomes a new entry, preserving the household’s audit trail.
How is time kept consistent?
Gentle Tally uses Kronos-adjusted time and deterministic ordering so devices can agree on the sequence of events.
